LT David R. Martin

David R. Martin is a Chaplain in the United States Navy and a minister of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He grew up in Texas and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1993. After the Marine Corps, he returned to Texas to finish a B.A. at the University of North Texas. In 2010, he completed graduate studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and is finishing a DMin at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Chaplain Martin’s duty stations include 3d Reconnaissance Battalion (Okinawa, Japan), Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 22 (Fort Worth, TX), Marine Aircraft Group 41 (Fort Worth, TX), Key West Naval Air Station (Key West, FL), and 3d Battalion 2d Marines (Camp Lejeune, NC). He is currently assigned to the Naval Surface Squadron 14 Ministry Center in Mayport and deployed with Strike Group Two on the USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In his off time, David enjoys spending time with his family, running, SCUBA diving, playing the piano and writing music.

He and his wife, Judi, have been married for seventeen years and have four lovely daughters: Kathryn, Abigail, Hannah and Sarah.
